Why Cats Need a Different Approach
Dogs are usually stressed by the grooming. Cats are usually stressed by everything around it. A cat bonds to territory, so the carrier, the car and a room that smells of other animals do more damage than the clippers ever will. Removing the journey removes most of the problem, which is why mobile grooming suits cats even better than it suits dogs.
Inside the van there are no dogs, no cage dryers and no waiting. One cat, one groomer, and a door back into your house a few steps away.
What Cat Grooming Includes
- Brush out and de-shedding
- Bath and low-stress drying
- Lion cut or full body clip
- Sanitary and belly trim
- Nail trim, soft caps on request
- Ear cleaning and check
- De-matting where the skin allows
- Senior and long-haired cat handling
Long-Haired Cats and Matting
Persians, Maine Coons, Ragdolls and Himalayans mat faster than most owners expect, usually first in the armpits, the britches and behind the ears. Cat skin is far thinner than dog skin and mats sit tight against it, so once a coat has pelted, clipping is almost always kinder than brushing it out. A groom every 6 to 8 weeks prevents the situation entirely and costs less than the de-matting it avoids.
